The first series featured Dr Alinader Minalang, a Marawi Siege survivor and medical mission leader who remains to be in-charge of the many activities in BARMM-Lanao and IATF for IPHO Lanao del Sur. Cases of COVID-19 has been increasing recently even in Mindanao areas.

The second webinar featured Dr Sherjan Kalim, the Head of Cotabato Regional Medical Center Blood Bank for a lecture on Ibadah-Friendly Hospitals where he highlights the need for medical practitioners to set examples foremost in salah and other Islamic practices to be able to fully establish a worship-friendly facility such as those in Malaysia and Indonesia. Dr Norodin Kuit, Halal Expert and Veterinarian was also invited to speak on Halal in Science and Health as well as ongoing national efforts to improve certifications of food and medical products.

Otsuka Solar's President Mr Kohei Oyamada and Otsuka Pharmaceuticals Philippines Vice President Mr Yasuhito Kamei graced the webinar event together with national manager Ms Nelly Ramos and Team. Mr Kamei has likewise spearheaded the donation of hydration kits for frontliners with JMS last July and was distributed among nurses and doctors.

Over a hundred Pocari Sweat cases have been donated in Zamboanga City and other areas where the IMAN attendees and frontliners have participated as a pledge of assistance for health support through hydration.

The Pocari Sweat Team in Cebu distributed several cases to the ER Department of a Cebu Hospital through Dr Anisah Samporna while Dr. Al-Radjid Jamiri, ZCMC Chief Resident Dr Ibrahim Hassan and Ms Faida Misuari  facilitated the distribution at Zamboanga City Medical Center's different departments and units with Chief of Hospital Dr Monicimpo present. Zamboanga City Medical Center is an 800-bed capacity hospital and can reach up to 1000 beds if needed. Other hospitals such as West Metro Medical Center were included. Several other frontliners such as Dr Aisha Aziza Ronsing, Dr Asliyah Lampa, Dr Princess Sabdullah, Dr Arielle Medenilla, and others took part in sharing their challenges and survival tips in Luzon-based government medical centers. IMAN BOD  and Community Service Committee Head Dr Rocaya Mangondato, now heading a Maharlika Taguig health facility moderated the second webinar.

IMAN-Phil Board Members look forward to conducting a continuous frontliner-check series to assist in the wellness activities during the pandemic. A topic on Mental Health and Psychological Assessment for Health Practitioners will be the focus for the next session to coincide with suicide prevention in general and across communities.

IMAN's President Dr Abdel Jeffri Abdulla, a frontliner himself, expressed sincere gratitude to the kind sponsors for the launch.

(Special Thanks to the Pocari Sweat Team's Mr Marc Chua, Ms Leslie Ty, Ms Madeth Bagazin and Mr Chakie Garciano)

Ramadhan in the time of COVID-19

Fasting during this pandemic has brought both calamity and blessing. The lockdowns and quarantine gave some more time to pray, save from travels and mall visits, rest more from work-at-homes and office leaves, and most of all fast with strong remembrance of illness and death as a reminder to prepare oneself from the worst and the Hereafter.

Meanwhile, we also salute our healthcare workers as many continue to work in clinics and hospitals amidst the scare of catching the virus.

May Allah (SWT) bless our generous frontliner supporters and understanding loved ones as we, medical practitioners, continue to serve even during Ramadhan.

As we all believe and pray for preparedness, we are continually made aware of this -- inalillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun -- to Allah we all belong, unto Allah we shall all return.

Should you wish to support our physicians and healthcare workers in any way, please message us at the FaceBook Page or email imanphil07@gmail.com

May the coming Eid'L Fitr be a fruitful one for everyone, in shaa Allah

JazakAllaho khairan katheer!
