Kudos to Dr. Al-Radjid Jamiri!

Surgery entails one of the toughest residency trainings especially in government institutions in the country. Withstanding 5 years of long hours in the operating room almost without sleep, saving a life as an occupation nearly 24/7, serving communities, and living far from your loved ones may be such an exhausting task to many. But Alhamdulillah, this did not tire the spirit of our IMAN Co-Founder and VP Dr. Al-Radjid Jamiri, who already completed his residency training in Surgery at the Philippine General Hospital and even topped the national residency training program in the recently held examinations.

Dr Jamiri has been an active student leader since pre-med days and has helped bring together many muslim students within the institution to come together as a family, including the Islamic Medical Association of the Phils.

Without even resting for a month, he will be entering subspecialty training as a Fellow in Colorectal Surgery by January 2013,inshaAllah.

We wish to congratulate our very own Doc Al, together with his loving and supportive parents, Mr. Jul-ajid & Mrs. Radzma, siblings Rashid, Sitti Rahma, Al-amin, Fauzia, Ro-janna, Moh.Ismael and Abdullah. May you continue to be an inspiration & blessing to others!

Duaas For Exams

Bismillahi Rahmani Rahim

As medical professionals, we can never avoid exams in our lives. So whether it be a Medical Licensure Exam, a Diplomate Exam or Fellowship exam, the Qur'an has a lot to offer to ease fears and put faith in our hearts. Here are some of the duaas you might find useful. Never forget though to say Bismillah (In the Name of Allah) before you start answering those examination papers as well as offer the exam as a form of Praise and worship for the Almighty.

“Allahumma infa’nii bimaa ‘allamtanii wa’allimnii maa yanfa’uunii. Allahumma inii as’aluka fahmal-nabiyyen wa hifzal mursaleen al-muqarrabeen. Allahumma ijal leesanee ‘aiman bi dhikrika wa qalbi bi khashyatika. Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha’u qadeer wa anta hasbun-allahu wa na’mal wakeel.”
“Oh Allah! Make useful for me what you have taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me. Oh Allah! I ask you for the understanding of the prophets and the memory of the messengers, and those nearest to you. Oh Allah! Make my tongue full of your remembrance and my heart with consciousness of you. Oh Allah! You do whatever you wish, and you are my availer and protector and best of aid.”

“Allahumma la sahla illama ja-‘altahu sahla anta taj ‘alu al hazana eza ma shi’ta sahal.”
“Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what you have made easy. If you wish, you can make the difficult easy.”

“Ya sayyedas-sada-te, ya mojeebad-da’vate, ya rafe’ad-darajate, ya vali-yal hasanate, ya ghaferal-khati’ate, ya mo’ti-yal mas’alate, ya qabi-lat-tavbate, ya same’al-asvate, ya ‘alemal-khafiyate, ya dafe’al bali yate.”
“O’ the chief of all chiefs! O’ the acceptor of prayers! O’ the elevator of ranks! O’ the master of virtues! O’ the forgiver of sins! O’ the granter of requests! O’ the excerptor of penance! O’ the hearer of all voices! O’ the one who knows all mysteries! O’ the remover of calamities!”

A Stronger IMAN inshaAllah

In The Name of Allah,The Most Gracious, The Most Merciful

The recent Sendong tragedy has kept many of us busy with each of our own
donation drives. International communities are continuously pouring out assistance while some NGOs locally aim for long-term rebuilding projects including psychosocial
supports for those who have lost their homes and loved ones.

The Facebook-Twitter and the rest of the networking sites have never been so busy in making things possible that an article or two on this webpage of ours wouldn't be enough to credit all those who helped out for Typhoon Sendong victims.

2011 has been a year full of calamities, Japan's devastating Tsunami topped it all followed by the tornadoes in the US. Not to mention the massive flashfloods in Australia,Pakistan,Thailand and many other areas.

Some are asking, has the global warming phenomena finally reached its peak? Some are now even presuming 2012 the final year of our lives while many remain too busy to even bother.

As our IMAN (faith in Arabic) is put to a test, may we welcome the new year without fear and continue to join together in prayer and in fulfilling what is best for our families, the community, and the country. As Muslim Physicians, may we continue to inspire others in trusting God whatever trial, no matter how rough, lands our way.

A Stronger IMAN in the years to come inshaAllah!
